Quitting and detaching

Development reference · View source

Commandidemux
:quit from the last paneExitsStops a clean session and returns the TUI to the previously visited running session
:quit-allExitsThe same, whatever the pane count
:quit-hereExits and changes the shell directory, through the wrapperThe same; without the wrapper both refuse. See Change the shell directory on exit
:detach—Disconnects the TUI at once, keeping every pane, buffer, unsaved edit, and terminal in the host
  • If the previous session is unavailable, Runyte tries other running sessions in recent-visit order, skipping occupied or incompatible hosts, and returns to the shell when none can take the TUI.
  • Quitting refuses unsaved buffers and live terminal children. A ! form may discard unsaved buffers but never ends a terminal.
  • :detach needs no force form, because it discards nothing.
  • To stop a different session, use runyte --session-stop or :session-stop.
