Each recipe is a complete file. Combine the parts you need.

Indent with tabs, shown eight columns wide:

Write prose comfortably:

Show hidden files and list the newest first, with details:

Keep the terminal’s native mouse selection:

Move between panes with Ctrl-h/j/k/l:

  fast_pane_keys: true

This takes Ctrl-j and Ctrl-k from Insert mode. It also takes all four keys from terminal programs, where Ctrl-h is backspace and Ctrl-l clears the screen.

Plain carets instead of Helix-style selecting motions:

  selecting_motions: false

Use persistent sessions and retire idle hosts after two hours:

workspace:
  mode: persistent # restart required
  session_strip: always
  idle_retirement_minutes: 120

Refresh Git less often, or never automatically:

  refresh_interval_seconds: 300 # or 0 to rely on :git-refresh

Add a language server:

Turn language servers off entirely:
